ROBLOX BEGINS TESTING PLAYING GAMES DIRECTLY IN YOUR BROWSER

ROBLOX BEGINS TESTING PLAYING GAMES DIRECTLY IN YOUR BROWSER
Read aloud

Roblox is testing a new feature that could change how players launch their favourite experiences, allowing users to play certain Roblox games directly through their web browser without needing to launch the traditional Roblox application.

The new feature, which is currently in testing, allows players to launch experiences directly from a browser using a special Roblox URL.

However, there is one catch: the feature currently only works with experiences that you own.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Players can try the experimental feature by visiting a special Roblox webpage:

https://play.roblox.com/games/start?placeId=PLACEID

To use it, players need to replace PLACEID in the URL with the Place ID of an experience they own.

Once the correct ID is entered, Roblox will attempt to launch the experience directly through the browser.

CURRENT LIMITATIONS

While the feature is an interesting development, it is still being tested and is not currently available for every Roblox experience.

At this stage, players are limited to launching games they own, meaning you cannot simply enter the ID of any popular Roblox experience and expect it to work.

It is also unclear whether Roblox plans to expand the feature to all experiences or when a wider release might happen.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ROBLOX?

If Roblox eventually expands browser-based gameplay, it could make accessing experiences more convenient for players and developers.

It could also open up new possibilities for sharing and launching experiences through websites, potentially making it easier for players to jump straight into a game.

For now, the feature remains an early experiment, and players will have to wait and see whether Roblox decides to make it available to everyone.
