Roblox is making it easier for younger developers to publish games to younger audiences.
Starting today, creators under the age of 18 no longer need to complete government ID verification to make their games available to Roblox users of all ages, including Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts.
Instead, creators under 18 can complete Facial Age Estimation as their age check. Roblox says this change is designed to make the publishing process simpler while maintaining its age-based safety systems.
Age checks are still required
Although government ID is no longer required for creators under 18, an age check is still mandatory.
Roblox's updated publishing requirements state that creators under 18 can use Facial Age Estimation, while creators aged 18 and older still need to verify their age through government ID when publishing to all-age audiences.
Creators publishing games for all ages must also have two-factor authentication enabled, meet Roblox's publishing requirements and have their game pass the additional evaluation process for Roblox Kids and Select audiences.
Part of a wider publishing overhaul
The change comes just days after Roblox announced a series of updates aimed at making game publishing easier.
Roblox also lowered the expedited review fee for Roblox Kids and Select games from 100,000 Robux to 50,000 Robux, while introducing a simpler publishing flow and new options for creators to test games with age-checked friends before launch.
Roblox says these changes are intended to reduce friction for creators while continuing to protect younger players through age checks, content evaluations and ongoing moderation.
For developers under 18, the change means publishing games for younger audiences no longer requires government ID — but completing an age check remains an important part of the process.
