Australian music legend John Farnham is being celebrated with a huge tribute concert at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, bringing together some of the biggest names in Australian and international music.
The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert is being held on Sunday, September 20, with more than 120 performers, musicians and members of the John Farnham Band taking part.
The lineup includes Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, Keith Urban, Jessica Mauboy, Human Nature, Kate Ceberano, Richard Marx, Diesel, Jon Stevens, Ross Wilson and many more. International stars Celine Dion and Hugh Jackman are also appearing via satellite from Paris and Los Angeles.
The concert is also raising funds for Head and Neck Cancer Australia, supporting cancer services connected to Farnham's own cancer journey.
Farnham unable to attend
Farnham himself will not be at the concert. His family confirmed that his health has deteriorated in recent months and that he now requires continuous oxygen support and 24-hour nursing care at home.
His family said Farnham has been deeply moved by the tribute and would have loved to attend, but they have decided that remaining at home is the safest and most comfortable option for him.
Despite his absence, the night will celebrate the enormous impact Farnham has had on Australian music.
Celebrating a legendary career
Farnham's career has spanned decades, with his 1986 album Whispering Jack becoming one of Australia's biggest-selling albums. The album also featured his iconic hit "You're the Voice", which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026.
The tribute gives fans and fellow performers the opportunity to celebrate Farnham's music and legacy while supporting an important cause.
The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend is a one-night-only event at Rod Laver Arena, with the concert also being screened live in cinemas across Australia.
