Today marks a major step forward in how players connect and communicate in games. With the global rollout of Cross-Server Chat and Chat Summaries, creators can now offer richer, more dynamic social experiences without needing to lift a finger to implement them. These features are automatically enabled in all games with in-game chat, making it easier than ever to keep communities active, informed, and connected.
At the heart of this update is Cross-Server Chat, a feature that expands conversations beyond a single server. Players can now switch between “Here” (local chat) and “Global” chat, allowing them to interact with up to hundreds of players across different servers within the same experience. This opens the door to large-scale collaboration, shared events, and a stronger sense of community across the entire game universe.
To ensure conversations remain relevant and safe, players are intelligently grouped based on language, location, and age. Built-in rate limits help prevent spam by automatically filtering excessive messages. Creators also retain full control, with the ability to disable Cross-Server Chat directly from the Creator Hub Dashboard if it doesn’t fit their experience.
Looking ahead, even more flexibility is on the way. Upcoming APIs for TextChatService will allow creators to customize cross-server communication at a deeper level. This includes grouping players by game stage or activity, enabling targeted communication such as recruiting teammates during live gameplay. Future updates will also streamline server teleportation, making it easier for players to jump directly into action with others they meet through Global chat.
Alongside this, Chat Summaries are now live, helping players stay up to date with conversations without scrolling endlessly. Instead of missing out or feeling lost, users can quickly catch up on key points in chat, making communication more accessible and efficient. The system is designed with safety in mind and continues to improve, with ongoing adjustments to make summaries more useful and relevant to gameplay.
An opt-out option for Chat Summaries is already in development and is expected to roll out soon, giving users more control over their chat experience.
Together, these features represent a significant leap toward more connected, social, and immersive game worlds. By bridging communication across servers and simplifying how players engage with conversations, creators now have powerful tools to grow and sustain thriving communities.
