Roblox Introduces “Delayed Actions” to Strengthen Account Security

Roblox Introduces “Delayed Actions” to Strengthen Account Security

Roblox Corporation has announced a new security feature called Delayed Actions, aimed at protecting creators and group owners from increasingly sophisticated account attacks.

Why This Matters

According to Roblox developers, there has been a noticeable rise in scams and targeted attacks where bad actors trick users into giving away access to accounts, groups, or Robux. Once inside, attackers often act quickly—transferring assets before the real owner can react.

Delayed Actions directly targets this issue by slowing down suspicious activity and giving legitimate users time to respond.

How Delayed Actions Work

When a sensitive action is detected—especially from a new or unusual login—Roblox will trigger several protections:

  • Security Challenge: Users must verify their identity through methods like email codes or authenticator apps.
  • 6-Hour Delay: If standard verification is used, the requested action is blocked for six hours before it can be attempted again.
  • Instant Alerts: The account owner receives a notification via email about the attempted action.

If the action wasn’t initiated by the owner, they can select “No, it’s not me”, which immediately logs out the suspicious session.

Users can also monitor these events in Session Management, found in the Security settings, where active sessions and delays are listed.

Bypassing the Delay (For Trusted Users)

Roblox has included ways for legitimate users to skip the waiting period:

  • Using trusted passkeys or hardware security keys
  • Performing actions from a recognized device or location

However, Roblox notes that for high-risk actions—like very large group payouts—bypasses may not be allowed at all.

Important Note

If a user ignores a security alert, Roblox assumes the action was intentional. After the 6-hour delay, the action can be retried without additional verification.

What This Means for Creators

This update adds a critical safety net, especially for developers managing valuable games or large groups. While it may introduce slight delays in some situations, the added protection could prevent major losses.
